A couple of weeks ago, I was just wandering around Mandurah. No plans, no particular place to be, you know those rare days where you just go with the flow?

I was strolling down one of the quieter streets, headphones in, when this little cafe caught my eye. Nothing fancy, no big flashy signs. Just a warm, inviting space Mandurah Cafe. I hesitated for a second, then thought, "Why not?"

I walked in, and straight away, I felt something different. The vibe was calm, welcoming, almost like I’d been there before. I grabbed a seat near the window, watching people go by, and ordered myself a coffee and a toasted sandwich.

Now, I’ve had plenty of sandwiches and coffees in my time, but mate this was something else. Coffee? Smooth, rich, and honestly one of the best flat whites I’ve had in ages. And the sandwich? Fresh ingredients, perfectly grilled, not overdone, not trying too hard, just simple and delicious.

I walked out of there that day feeling lighter somehow. Like I'd found a little pocket of calm in the middle of life’s madness.

Of course, I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so the next week, I went back. This time I switched it up and tried their smashed avo on sourdough and a caramel latte. Bang on again. Honestly, I was almost surprised by how consistent it was. After that, it just became a bit of a ritual. Whether I’m heading to training, taking some time off, or just passing through town, I find myself stopping by Mandurah Cafe.

The funny part? I couldn’t keep it to myself. I told one of my best mates about it. Said, "You’ve got to try this place seriously, it’s that good."

Sure enough, a few days later, he called me up after his visit. The first thing he said was, "Mate, where has this place been all my life?"

Now he’s hooked too. We both end up there most weekends now, catching up over a cuppa, trying out whatever new special they’ve got going.

It’s rare to find places like that these days simple, genuine, and consistently good. Mandurah Cafe isn’t just another coffee stop for me anymore. It’s my little retreat from the chaos, where the coffee’s always perfect and the atmosphere feels like home.

If you’re ever around, do yourself a favour and check it out.
